Get Changed Theatre Company is looking for new trustees to join our board. We are looking for people who live in or near Okehampton and can bring knowledge of the community, together with specific skills
Established in 1995, Get Changed Theatre Company is a vibrant organisation for adults with learning disabilities in West and Mid Devon.
Our mission is to produce high quality arts projects which challenge public attitudes and raise the profile of the disability community.
Our vision is to increase awareness of the problems faced by people with learning disabilities and leave something striking and of lasting value within the community.
What our trustees do
Trustees are responsible for the governance of the charity: setting the strategic direction, ensuring requirements are met and that we are delivering real benefits for our participants. The board meets monthly and trustees may also be asked to serve on a committee or other ad hoc group. We would welcome people with experience of one of the following:

This year, Get Changed is one of the beneficiaries of the Co-op Local Community Fund. The group receives 1% of what Co-op members spend on selected products and services in Okehampton. As a member, you can actively choose to make Get Changed your cause by visiting the Co-op website, signing into your account and nominating us. If you are not a member, joining is easy - visit: https://membership.coop.co.uk. You will see that there are extra benefits to becoming a member, so it is well worth doing. This is a real boost for the company - as you are probably aware, arts funding has dropped off in recent years but with lots of good causes still competing for funds, so opportunities like these are crucial.
Roll over Celia and Trev, the Get Changed theatre company has been working on its very own railway epic. Over the last few months, Jules and the company have been busy creating ideas and devising scenes. Now rehearsals for the production in April are in full swing. Look forward to a joyful brief encounter with all things rail-related - oh yes, and don't forget your tickets!
The participants, staff and trustees of Get Changed are thrilled to be supported by Redrow Homes. Last year these generous donations allowed us to perform Alice in Wonderland at Castle Drogo, Exeter Respect Festival and we were particularly pleased to show our talents at the Queens 90th birthday celebrations in Okehampton. These performances allowed us to showcase the many talents of our participants to new audiences.
In 2017 we will be using the donations from Redrow Homes to support the delivery of our events programme which will include a range of Community performances.
Lots of our participants joined in a project with Wren Music creating lanterns and earning songs for the Okehampton Lantern procession on Friday 17th February
Well done to everyone that took part, including our participants who made lanterns and joined in the procession. A big thanks to Wren Music for putting on this event and running the workshops with us. It was amazing!
Get Changed participants put on a wonderful Christmas Show yesterday. They performed Charles Dickens' much-loved story, A Christmas Carol. The audience had a real treat: all the actors were amazing, the staging was dramatic and the storyline was packed with witty lines. Well done everyone!
